In southeastern Turkiye lies a secret that is rewriting everything we know about the origins of civilization: Gobeklitepe, the world’s oldest known architectural complex. It is 7,000 years older than the Pyramids of Egypt and 6,000 years older than Stonehenge in England.
With its circular enclosures, massive stone megaliths, and over 200 T-shaped pillars, it is one of the greatest mysteries of human history.
It is so ancient that, according to scientists, a place like this shouldn’t even exist.
Because 12,000 years ago, humanity had not yet worked with metal, developed writing, or even invented the wheel.
But here, hunter-gatherers erected stones weighing tons and carved symbols onto them that we still cannot fully understand today. But why?
